Project background

Project Overview:

This project was carried out at a large commercial distributed photovoltaic power station located in an industrial park in Wuxi, Jiangsu. 

The station has an installed capacity of approximately 15MW and includes more than 30,000 monocrystalline photovoltaic modules. 

The modules are installed on fixed supports and had been in operation for about four years.

Due to the surrounding industrial environment, the solar panel surfaces were affected by electronic manufacturing dust, metal debris, 

oil stains, bird droppings, rain marks, and other mixed contaminants. These pollutants reduced surface cleanliness and light transmittance,

 directly affecting power generation efficiency and increasing operation and maintenance pressure.

Project introduction

Customer Pain Points

The main challenge of this project was not simple dust removal, but complex mixed contamination. Some areas had hardened deposits, 

oil stains, industrial dust, and stubborn residues around module edges and junction box areas. Traditional water rinsing could not 

completely remove the contaminants, while strong acidic or alkaline cleaning agents could potentially damage the glass surface, 

EVA film, aluminum frame, or galvanized brackets.

Before cleaning, on-site testing showed that the module transmittance had dropped significantly due to accumulated pollutants. 

The power generation efficiency had decreased by approximately 20%–23% compared with the initial operating condition, 

causing direct power loss and reducing the economic return of the solar power station.

Yingcai Solution

Based on the project conditions and environmental requirements in Wuxi, Yingcai New Materials provided a customized integrated

cleaning solution covering product selection, on-site application, and performance testing. The core product used in this project 

was Yingcai Neutral Solar Panel Cleaner.

The cleaner is formulated with a mild neutral system, with a stable pH range suitable for photovoltaic module surfaces.

 It is designed to remove dust, oil stains, bird droppings, rain marks, and industrial residues without corroding solar glass, 

EVA film, aluminum frames, or mounting structures.

The solution combined professional on-site assessment, cleaning agent dilution and spraying, gentle brushing, low-pressure rinsing, 

wastewater collection, and final performance testing. The entire process was designed to ensure cleaning efficiency, module protection, 

environmental compliance, and safe operation.

Standardized Cleaning Process

The service team adopted a standardized cleaning process according to the operating conditions of the power station. Before application, 

the team confirmed the power-off schedule, checked the surrounding environment, inspected the cleaning equipment, and avoided 

high-temperature, strong sunlight, foggy, or dusty weather conditions.During cleaning, soft brushes and low-pressure equipment were used to remove floating dust and loose particles. The neutral solar panel 

cleaner was diluted according to the contamination level and sprayed evenly on the module surface. After sufficient wetting and reaction, 

the team gently removed stubborn stains and then rinsed the panels with low-pressure water.

After cleaning, the modules were naturally dried, and the team used transmittance testing equipment and power output data comparison 

to evaluate the cleaning effect. Areas that did not meet the standard were re-cleaned to ensure consistent results.

Project Results

After professional cleaning with Yingcai Neutral Solar Panel Cleaner, the solar panel surfaces were restored to a clean condition, and the 

module transmittance returned close to the factory standard. On-site testing showed that the average maximum power output increased 

by approximately 17.2%, exceeding the expected target of 15%.

Based on the annual designed power generation and local commercial electricity cost, the project is expected to bring significant 

economic benefits by increasing annual power generation, reducing electricity cost pressure, and shortening the investment return cycle.

Compared with traditional manual cleaning, the professional cleaning process improved cleaning efficiency by more than 45%. A team of 

20 people completed the cleaning of more than 30,000 photovoltaic modules within 8 days, greatly shortening the service period and 

reducing labor and maintenance costs.


Customer Value

This project demonstrated the value of Yingcai’s integrated photovoltaic cleaning solution in real commercial power station operation. 

By combining professional cleaning products, standardized application processes, on-site testing, and environmental control, 

Yingcai helped the customer reduce power loss, improve energy yield, lower maintenance costs, and enhance long-term asset performance.

The project also provided a practical reference for commercial distributed photovoltaic power stations facing similar challenges such as 

industrial dust, mixed pollution, oil stains, bird droppings, and long-term surface contamination.
