Project background
During actual operation, a 50MW large-scale PV power station in Jiangsu faced severe challenges. The project is located in a rainy and humid region, where the PV module surface is frequently affected by dust, bird droppings, water stains, and organic pollutants. As a result, the system’s power generation efficiency dropped by more than 18%.
Traditional cleaning methods were no longer sufficient for long-term PV operation and maintenance. Manual cleaning consumed large amounts of water, while frequent cleaning also increased O&M costs and created risks of module surface damage. To solve this industry pain point, the power station introduced Yingcai’s new hydrophobic and hydrophilic nano coating technology in 2025.

Customer value
Annual power generation increased from 62 million kWh to 70.5 million kWh, creating approximately RMB 8.5 million in additional annual electricity revenue.
O&M costs were significantly reduced. The annual cleaning frequency decreased from 12 times to 3 times, and the annual cleaning cost dropped from RMB 720,000 to zero under the free-cleaning and revenue-sharing model.
Operational Benefits:
The O&M model changed from active frequent cleaning to passive intelligent maintenance. The number of required maintenance staff was reduced from 8 to 3.
Maintenance downtime decreased by 80%. The occurrence rate of module microcracks dropped by 95%, and the expected service life of the modules was extended by 2 to 3 years.
Management efficiency improved. Cleaning schedules are now executed based on actual demand, real-time monitoring enables automatic warnings, and maintenance response time was shortened by 60%.
Environmental and Social Benefits:
The project saves more than 4,000 tons of water per year and reduces the consumption of chemical cleaning agents and cleaning equipment.
The increased annual power generation is equivalent to reducing approximately 5,100 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. Over the full lifecycle of the project, carbon emissions can be reduced by more than 400 million tons.
The project has become a benchmark green power station, received a provincial demonstration title, and attracted industry peers for site visits and learning.

Yingcai provided a 5-year warranty and regular inspection service, ensuring a reliable return on investment and stronger operational stability.
Project Expansion Value:
Technology extension: The solution has already been applied in agrivoltaic complementary projects, coastal power stations, and industrial park PV systems. It is also being developed for floating PV, BIPV, and solar thermal power generation fields.
Industry contribution: The project provides a reference for technical standards, performance evaluation methods, economic models, and construction guidelines for the photovoltaic self-cleaning coating industry.
