As utility-scale renewable energy projects continue to expand across China's desert regions, long-term photovoltaic power generation efficiency has become just as important as installed capacity. Dust accumulation, sand abrasion, limited cleaning water, extreme temperature fluctuations, and surface contamination have become major factors affecting solar power generation, operation and maintenance costs, and project profitability.

On July 8, 2026, the New Energy Integration Development Seminar and Xinjiang Desert Renewable Energy Base Planning Conference was held at China Energy Engineering Group Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute. The conference focused on renewable energy integration, green hydrogen, energy storage, green ammonia, and the development of large-scale desert renewable energy bases.

As a manufacturer specializing in photovoltaic nano coatings and functional materials, YINGCAI New Materials presented its latest generation PV Nano Self-Cleaning Coating, designed specifically for utility-scale solar power stations operating in harsh desert environments.

Unlike conventional coating solutions that are applied after a solar power plant is commissioned, YINGCAI's latest technology can be directly integrated into PV glass and photovoltaic module production lines. The coating is applied before modules leave the factory, allowing manufacturers to achieve better coating consistency, higher production efficiency, improved adhesion, and stable quality control.

The factory pre-coating process also eliminates many of the limitations associated with on-site application, including weather conditions, dust, wind, and installation variability, making it ideal for industrial-scale photovoltaic module manufacturing.

The coating is developed using YINGCAI's proprietary inorganic nano composite system combined with chemical bonding technology. This creates a durable nano-scale protective layer that bonds tightly to photovoltaic glass and provides outstanding long-term stability.

Compared with conventional organic coatings, the new solution offers excellent resistance to UV aging, sand abrasion, salt spray, acid and alkali exposure, and extreme temperature cycling. The coating maintains strong adhesion without cracking, peeling, or powdering during long-term outdoor operation.

Instead of relying on a single self-cleaning mechanism, the coating combines three complementary technologies.

Anti-static technology minimizes dust attraction by reducing static charge accumulation on the glass surface.

Super-hydrophilic technology enables rainwater to spread evenly across the module surface, carrying away loose dust and reducing contamination.

Nano photocatalytic technology helps decompose organic pollutants such as bird droppings, oil residues, and other contaminants under sunlight.

Together, these technologies help photovoltaic modules remain cleaner for longer periods, reducing cleaning frequency, saving water resources, and lowering maintenance costs.

The coating also features an ultra-thin optical enhancement layer that reduces surface reflection while maintaining excellent transparency. This helps improve light transmission and supports stable long-term photovoltaic power generation.

Designed to match the service life of photovoltaic modules, the coating provides up to 25 years of protection without requiring repeated coating applications.

As desert renewable energy bases continue integrating photovoltaic power generation, green hydrogen, energy storage, and green ammonia production, maintaining stable photovoltaic output becomes increasingly important. Improving module surface performance is an effective way to enhance long-term operational efficiency while reducing maintenance costs.

In addition to PV Nano Self-Cleaning Coatings, YINGCAI continues developing photovoltaic glass coatings, anti-soiling coatings, solar panel cleaning solutions, photovoltaic operation and maintenance materials, wind turbine anti-icing coatings, and industrial protective coatings.

Looking ahead, YINGCAI New Materials will continue strengthening cooperation with photovoltaic module manufacturers, EPC contractors, renewable energy developers, and power generation companies while advancing nano functional materials and photovoltaic surface technologies.

Through continuous innovation, YINGCAI remains committed to supporting more efficient, reliable, and sustainable solar power generation worldwide.
